The vision of Goal Investor is to help retail investors define personal goals, understand and improve the likelihood of achieving those goals, invest in recommended strategies, and track their progress over time. The business' mission is to help everyday investors achieve the kind of clarity they need to prioritize their goals, make sound decisions about their money, and take appropriate action.
Position Description:
The role: The Goal Investor team is adding a Freelance Managing Editor to our fast growing business. This individual, who will report to Goal Investor's Editor in Chief, will:
Work diligently to understand Goal Investor's market and services
Help to shape Goal Investor's ongoing content strategy
Edit content to ensure clarity and to align with Goal Investor's brand (voice, style, point of view, substance)
Oversee the development and publication of all content on our website and social media channels
The content: Goal Investor's content is critical to our success, as it's the key to helping our users achieve clarity. Throughout the website and in all of our social media channels we offer education and advice through a variety of content forms, including copy, graphics, interactive tools, videos, podcasts and more. The ideal candidate must understand how digital audiences consume information, and be proficient in communicating through different digital media forms.
The team: The Goal Investor Editorial Team is a collection of independent, highly skilled writers, illustrators, and web developers, as well as experts in SEO, analytics and social media. As needed, we call upon a host of subject matter experts and legal advisors. The team is highly collaborative and mutually respectful. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have experience motivating and organizing a diverse team of communications professionals, and will be able to foster that atmosphere of collaboration and integrity.
The environment: The candidate who fills this position will join a small, highly motivated and entrepreneurial team that is building an exciting new business. As with any growing business we have to be nimble, efficient and creative. In addition, our team is comprised primarily of independent contractors and small firms scattered across the Philadelphia area and beyond. Because we are not co-located, the majority of our collaboration happens virtually, using web-based tools like Google Hangout, web conferencing, Trello, and Basecamp. Therefore, the ideal candidate for this position will be completely at home on digital forums, as well as highly organized and able to work independently. S/he will stay cool and keep the team on track as processes and tools evolve; as priorities shift; and as deadlines loom.
Some particulars: This position requires approximately 30 hours of work per week. The Managing Editor will work remotely, but in-person meetings with the Editor in Chief and/or Editorial Team members are scheduled as needed in mutually-agreeable locations. Full Goal Investor team meetings occur 5 to 6 times per year in and around Philadelphia, including at the SEI headquarters in Oaks, PA.

Position Requirements
Position Requirements: A minimum of 7 years' experience preferred.
Writing and Editing: Successful experience in producing and editing content for digital communications
Project Management: Able to create, communicate and execute efficient plans
Team Management: Able to effectively motivate and organize a virtual team
Digital Native: Completely comfortable with all things digital, including digital collaboration tools
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the work environment may require an individual to move around the office and from building to building which may expose the individual to weather conditions outside. The individual has to be able to sit or be stationary at a computer and use computers for extended periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The noise level in the environment is moderate and the individual must be able to communicate and exchange information with people in person and over the telephone and email.
